Be a voice for cycling and sport

With over one billion pounds shared out amongst good causes every year, the National Lottery has had a massive impact on every area of British life.

Welsh Cycling has gained from the National Lottery with support for facilities such as the Wales National Velodrome.

However, are you aware that only just over 16% of lottery finance goes into sport??!!

Welsh Cycling welcomes new staff member 

Welsh Cycling is delighted to announce the appointment of Debbie Wharton as Performance Development Manager.

Debbie joins Welsh Cycling on secondment from British Cycling. Debbie's remit will include ensuring the throughput of talented athletes through the Wales National Velodrome to Welsh Cycling performance programmes. The role will involve increasing participation in cycling and developing an environment in which talented riders can flourish.

Chief Executive of Welsh Cycling, Peter Sommers stated: "I am delighted to welcome Debbie to Welsh Cycling, and look forward to her bringing her innovative ideas to attract new people to cycling, and to ensure that talented performers are brought through our programmes. Debbie's secondment once again indicates the positive relationship that exists between Welsh Cycling and British Cycling, and that our programmes are being recognised as providing future British performers on the International Stage "Debbie's work has already started to take shape with the "attack the track" session taking place on Monday 20th February. Track Accreditation

A Track Rider Accreditation session is planned for Sunday 12th February 2006. 18.00 - 20.00 hrs at Wales National Velodrome.

Accreditation is required should you wish to compete in the track leagues. It is also strongly recommended that you achieve accreditation before competing in any other track event. Accreditation will also ensure that you have the requisite skills to safely participate in any drop-in session.

The session will cost:

  • �10. for adults
  • �4 for youths (over 14 years only)
