Would you like
to become part of the Wales National Velodrome Coaching Initiative?
Welsh Cycling
is currently working together with Newport City Council to establish an 8
week Introduction to Track Cycling Course for Community Youth and School
Groups, between the ages of 9 to 14 yrs.
The course
follows an 8 week programme, taking riders who are new to riding the track
through various skills and techniques, with an assessment on the final
week. Riders learn how to ride the track safely and confidently, follow a
wheel, change from the front to the back of the group, gain confidence in
their bike handling skills, and gain knowledge of the rules and code of
conduct of the track.
If youd like
to gain more experience in working with groups of young riders, then this is
a great opportunity for you to further develop your track coaching skills.
You will be
given the opportunity to shadow experienced, qualified coaches through the 8
week programme, and gain more experience in track coaching at a youth level.
The
Introduction to Track Cycling Course will begin on Tuesday 21st
February, 4.30 til 6.00 pm, and run consecutively for 8 weeks. Please
register your intention to take part in this unique training opportunity
before the day.
There will be
further opportunities to shadow coaches through the 8 week programme
throughout the year, along with various other activities to enable coaches
to further develop their skills.
If you are a
qualified British Cycling Coach, or are interested in becoming a qualified
