Welsh cyclists take Gold at National Track Championships
Nicole Cooke and Geraint Thomas were the undoubted stars of the third night at the National Track Championships in Manchester.
Riding in the Open 20K Scratch final Geraint opened up an 10m gap on the rest of the field and never looked back, leaving the other riders to fight it out for silver.
In the 15k Points final, Nicole dominated the race from start to finish, winning many of the sprints and controlling the race throughout. This success followed her bronze in the scratch race from day two.

Roach on Trophy Podium
Steven Roach (Trek UK) got his cyclo cross season off to a flying start at the opening National Trophy last weekend.
Roach proved one of the main protagonists around Pitville Park in Cheltenham as the Senior mens event resembled a road race
with the leading bunch circulating at a furious rate. Roach spent much of the race in the hunt for third overall, but his relentless
chase of the leaders saw the Welshman drop back on the last lap to claim fifth overall and second Espoir (Under 23)
Other Welsh results included a delighted Ben Roach (Rugby Velo) who stepped out of his brothers shadow to sprint into second in the
Youth event ahead of Gareth James (Abergavenny RC) in 14th, whilst Jamess club mate Gareth Walker took 7th in the under 14s.
In the Veterans event Phil Roach headed the Welsh challenge with 7th, whilst Graham Edwards took 5th in the over 50s category.
Claire Lines (Gateway RT) proved Wales sole female competitor, racing to 7th in the Womens event. Full results from the event can
be found on the British Cycling website HERE.
OBoyle Claims Cross Win
First year Senior Anthony OBoyle (Newport Phoenix) claimed victory at round three of the cyclo-cross league at the weekend,
taking his maiden senior victory ahead of former Welsh under 23 champion Lewys Hobbs (Merlin) and Ian Bendall (Bynea CC).
OBoyles brother Sion took the Junior prize together with fourth overall while an exciting tussle for the Veterans prize was won
by Darren Williams (CC Abergavenny) with Clive Powell (Dambusters) and Paul Bennett (Cardiff Jif) in tow. The Womens prize went to
Jessica Allen (Abergavenny RC) her first win as a junior.
