Welsh Cycling seeks volunteer of the year nominations from you.....
Welsh Cycling has been invited to nominate three volunteers to go forward to British Cycling's Volunteer awards, to be
held in Manchester in February 2006.
Welsh Cycling will nominate a Club Coach, Club Official and Event Official to be put forward for each category of the
British Cycling awards.
Anyone wishing to nominate a volunteer for the awards can do so by completing and returning the application form that
can be found HERE
All nominations must be received by the Welsh Cycling office by 5pm on Friday November 18th.
Members of the Welsh Cycling board will then assess the received nominations and make their decision known. The Welsh Volunteers of the year will then go forward to the British awards accordingly.
More Welsh Cyclists achieve British recognition
Welsh Cycling is delighted to announce that two Welsh riders have achieved a place on the British Cycling Olympic
Development programme for 2005 / 2006.
Katie Curtis joins Cardiff Ajax clubmate and European Junior Champion Matt Rowe on the Olympic programme, which will see
them both set their targets on the European and World Junior Championships in July and August of next year.
Katie and Matt will be coached by former Welsh Cycling coach Darren Tudor, who made the selections earlier this week.
Welsh Cycling president Mr Bill Owen said: "This is more great news for our young Welsh riders. Coming so quickly on the back
of Ross Sander and Geraint Thomas achieving their places on the 05/06 British Cycling academy, and Steven Roach on the
Olympic Podium programme, Welsh Cycling is once again being strongly represented at the highest level" Click

Welsh team to compete at Junior Interland this weekend.
Two Welsh teams will this weekend go head to head with the best of British and European competition at the Junior
Interland competition at the Wales National Velodrome.
Riders from across Wales will be testing their skills against their British and mainly French rivals on the track in
Newport.
Admission is free on both days for anyone wanting to come and watch the Welsh cyclists in action.
Racing starts at 2pm on Saturday 12th November and 9am on Sunday 13th November.

Roach Cruises to Muddy Victory
Stephen Roach (SIS) claimed victory in treacherous conditions at Round 8 of the Welsh Cyclo Cross League this weekend in Pontypool Park.
Roach went clear early in the event with Julian Winn (Pinarello RT), Lee Williams (CC Abergavenny) and Newport Phoenix clubmates and
event winners this season Anthony O�Boyle and Ben Simmons.
Roach soon went clear with Winn chasing in his first �cross of the season, whilst the Newport riders hung onto third and fourth positions.
Williams had the misfortune to double puncture, removing him from the race for the lead after his extraordinary ride to seventh position in
the previous weeks National Trophy at Southampton. Full results from Round 8 can be found

Welsh Championships Entry Deadline
A reminder that entries for the Welsh Cyclo Cross Championships close next Sunday (13th November).
This year�s event at Newport Velodrome looks to be one of the most fiercely contested in history, with former National Trophy winner Stephen Roach (SIS) up against nine times winner Julian Winn (Pinarello RT) and surprise contender Lee Williams (CC Abergavenny) fresh from his
recent top ten National Trophy performance. Entry forms for the event can be found
