Go Race Series, North Wales, Final 2010
Posted: 29/11/10
Event: 13/11/10

Nant Bwlch yr Haearn Outdoor Centre, Llanrwst was the venue for the 10th and final round of this Cross Country Series. With many of the final placings still to be decided, it was a sunny but cold day that greeted the 43 competitors and with a testing circuit of the ‘skills course' we looked forward to some close racing.
Race 1, Youth and Juvenile
With the top two positions already decided in the Youth Boys category and these two being the only competitors for this race, Jamie Lowe came out on top to win the category and also win the overall award for the boys.
Geena Fraser won the Youth Girls category and the overall award for the girls.
Going into this race, Joe Barnwell and Robert Rogers were tied on points at the top of the Juvenile Boys category. Robert put in another storming performance to take the honors from Joe with Davey Brookes third and newcomer Will Sanders fourth on a DH bike.
In the Juvenile Girls, Lottie Cooper finished first with a fast closing Hannah Bird in second which was enough to give Hannah the category win and third place in the Series.
Race 2, Under 12
Matthew Lowe had already sewn up the category award but needed maximum points to claim the runner up spot in the overall Series which he managed to achieve after a very close race with the three other contenders for the remaining category trophies. Jack Nash finished second having being closely followed for the whole of the race by Gethin Williams. Gethin knowing that he had to finish no less than one place behind Jack to take the runners up award in the category.
After a 'ding dong' battle all season with Elen Bird, Niamh Peers won the category and was runner up in the Series.
Race 3, Under 10
Nick Clark needed maximum points to claim third spot in the overall awards and despite close competition on the first lap managed to pull away from newcomer Juno Sanders to claim victory in the race. Lewis Hourihan's consistent results throughout the season and Dafydd Keating's fourth place in the race was enough to give them second and third respectively in the category.
The two Megan's, Roberts and Woodward, fought a great battle over the last five races for the second and third spots with Megan W taking second behind Catrin Williams who raced consistently over the Series to take the top place.
Race 4, Under 8
The Under 8 Boy's category was won by a consistent Alfie Baines who raced well all season. William Harding who, although finishing behind Iwan Jones in the race, had a two point margin over him and claimed second place with Iwan third.
Newcomer Taty Sanders upset the form book by winning the race ahead of Grace Harries. Six year old Nia Barnwell finished third to take the first spot in the category with Grace second.
A single lap time trial followed then it was back to the Centre for Scott Bugden to present the awards.
Many thanks to Rasio 1868 (Llanrwst) and Beics Brenin (Coed y Brenin) for donating so many prizes for the ‘numbers draw' which meant that every competitor went away with a prize.
