Newport Dig It Cycle Speedway went to the top of the South and South Wales Division 1 League this weekend, after securing a fine 11 point victory at poole.

The 92.81 win was very impressive as not many teams win at the south coast circuit.

Newport took a two point lead after the early exchanges with Dan Bock impressing the crowds on his birthday. Poole hit back with a first and second placing in Heat 9 with Newport's Nick Evans crashing out, making the scores at the interval level.

Team Manager Colin Simmons rallied his team who came out for the second half more positive, winning the next three races through two Sidwick wins and one for Rudman to establish a comfortable 13 point lead which they were able to defend comfortably.
