Three Project 2018 Mountain Bike coaching sessions will begin across Wales this month. The sessions are open to Youth A and B riders only, with the aim to provide participants with an opportunity to ride mountain bike midweek and improve their riding with guidance from qualified, experienced ride leaders.

Venues

Cwmcarn, South Wales
When: Tuesday (Beginning Tuesday 23 April)
Time: 6.30pm – 8.00pm
Meet: Car park at start of Twrch Trail

Cost: £2.00 per rider

Brechfa, West Wales
When: Wednesday (Beginning Wednesday 24 April)
Time: 6.30pm – 8.00pm
Meet: Car park at start of Raven Trail
Ride Leader: Matt Page matpage@acycling.com
Cost: £2.00 per rider

Coed-y-Brenin, North Wales
When: Thursday (Beginning Thursday 25 April)
Time: 6.30pm – 8.00pm
Meet: Coed-y-Brenin Visitor Centre
Ride Leader: Steve Beech steve@wheelism.co.uk
Cost: £2.00 per rider

There will be eight places available each week at each venue.
Riders will need to e-mail the ride leaders in advance to book a place.
Places will be given out on a first come first served basis and ride leaders will operate a reserve list.

What will riders need?

  • Appropriate clothing for the weather including gloves/mitts whatever the weather
  • Race cape (lightweight rain jacket that folds into a jersey pocket)  
  • Spare inner tube, pump and multi-tool
  • Mountain Bike in good working order
  • Well fitted helmet in good condition
  • Food and drink for the ride
  • Completed and signed consent form

During school holidays led-rides will not take place as Welsh Cycling Skills Academy sessions are already planned. More information on Welsh Cycling Mountain Bike Skills Academies can be found here.
