GB Team Announced for World Track Championships

Lizzie Armitstead will not be attending the UCI Track Cycling World Championships due to a side strain. The team doctor has confirmed that she is responding well to treatment and a full recovery is expected but not in time for the World Championships.

Laura Trott will represent GB in the Omnium. The line-up for the Team Pursuit will be confirmed next week.

GB Team Announcement

14 March 2011

British Cycling has announced the team of 17 riders who will travel to Apeldoorn, Netherlands, to represent Great Britain at the 2011 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, taking place from 23 - 27 March 2011.

Current World Champions Sir Chris Hoy (Keirin), Victoria Pendleton (Sprint) and Ed Clancy (Omnium) have all made selection, whilst Sam Harrison, Dani King and Laura Trott will make their Senior World Championships debuts.

British Cycling's Performance Director Dave Brailsford said: "These World Championships are a further stepping stone towards the Olympic Games in London, and whilst the team is building momentum there's still plenty left in the tank. There's a great mood in the camp and the riders are very much enjoying the process of competing. For us it's a real positive to be going into the World Championships as the hunters rather than the hunted - the pressure is really on the Australians and the French to deliver, and it's a nice feeling for us to be going out there as the challengers."
