Fancy a bit of gravel road action on a sportive?

Wheels in Wheels Events Ltd are pleased to announce the second edition of this unique sportive in aid of SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) Forces Help charity, in Tidworth on Sunday 5th June.

Following on from a successful first running in 2010, the Pain on the Pain sportive is back bigger and better for this year. The event takes place from Tidworth, Wiltshire, on Sunday 5th June and will feature some unique, optional gravel road sections which proved very popular last year.

There will be three distances available, 50, 100 & 160km with the longer two routes featuring the optional gravel road sections. The course uses some of the best roads round Salisbury Plain and also some private military roads not normally open to the public to add a few surprises along the way. Each route will be fully signposted; have feed stops, electronic timing and mechanical back up en route.

There will be a short family ride on Sunday morning for those who fancy a spin suitable for all members of the family. There will also be plenty of things for children to see and do throughout the day at the event village with lots of displays and interactive activities organised by the army.

A new feature for 2011 is the addition of a series of criterium races on Saturday evening before the event on a specially designed circuit around Tedworth House in Tidworth.

All profits from the event will go to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA Forces Help www.ssafa.org.uk) and there will be the opportunity to raise extra funds through sponsorship for the charity with sponsorship forms available on line. Serving members of the Armed Forces will also receive a reduced entry fee of £17.00.
