Cycling Team Making a Diabetic Difference in 2011

Story posted December 21 | by Ian Rees

The Wilier Lifecare 2011 Cycling Team is making a difference to diabetics kids in the South West of England.  Elite rider Ian Rees finished 7th in the UK standings with nine elite wins in 2010 and is now using his knowledge of diabetes to help the South West Diabetic Organisations to motivate kids who are suffering with this now common condition to excel in sports of all kinds.

Ian has been diabetic for over ten years and cycles at an elite level, thanks to sponsorships from Wilier bikes, Mark Harris and Paul Glanville from Lifecare homes (Exeter), Wellman vitabiotics, Ben Luckwell team manager, Phil Tart swanier and many other people and sponsors that are associated with the cycling team.

“I have improved my health and fitness and look to improve the lives of kids and people with diabetes all over the UK.” On Wednesday 26th January 2011 at 7pm, Ian is to take a diabetic motivational talk at BAWA Club in Filton, Bristol and will go back to when he was diagnosed and how cycling has helped improve his health.

If anyone would like to attend or would like to talk about sport and diabetes please contact Ian Rees. “This is a condition to overcome and not to let it get the better of you as there is much worse things to overcome in life” Ian adds.
