Cycling is a vast, varied and exciting sport to be part of, with lots of opportunities whether you want to support new and developing riders or be part of the talent pathway that prepares athletes for competition.

If you are considering training to become a coach, remember that there are no defined characteristics that equal success. Every rider is an individual and will be looking for support in different ways, so have a think about how your own strengths will help to shape your approach to coaching and what sort of journey you’d like to take.

Our coach education programme offers a flexible pathway for progression, with appropriate experience available throughout. Through a combination of online learning, coursework and face-to-face development we aim to give you a well-rounded learning programme while opening doors to onward experience.

Introduction to Coaching (Activity Coach) is the starting point for all aspiring coaches.

Get supported

Coaching should be accessible to all and in the same way that every rider is an individual, each coach will have their own learning needs and aspirations. We want our courses to be open to everyone and have support available to help you access coach education. Explore which is best for you.

Fully-funded scholarships

If you aspire to coach at the performance end of the sport and are looking for a route into developing talent within cycling, we want to hear from you. Through scholarships created in partnership with our partner, Total Computers, we are offering learning support and money-can’t-buy experiences to help you to shape and define your career.

The application window opens annually in the summer/autumn.
