New 2011 South West Scotland Race Series Revealed

A new 25 race season long series has been launched in South West Scotland. The calendar will include MTB XC, Grass track, criteriums, Time Trials and open road races.
South West Scotland area is well known for its amazing mountain bike venue and as a consequence has many riders in the area out on their bikes on a regular basis. The area currently has two Scottish Cycling go-ride accredited clubs with two more well on their way. There is also many well run adult clubs who cater for youngsters in the area.
Scottish Cycling regional development coach for the area Alan Denman said "The missing ingredient in the area for cycling is a calendar of grass roots racing. Riders who are keen to get involved in racing and especially youngsters have to travel massive distances just to try it for the first time. So we decided as an area to do something about it."
An organising group led by Alan and the Stepping Stanes youth cycling club was set to address the issue. Now thanks to Scottish Cycling and all the local clubs who are putting in the hard work, South West Scotland now has a 25 race strong calendar to get kids and adults started in racing and provide a much needed racing pathway to success to run along side the Scottish Cycling coaching pathway which is already in place.
