Skinny Tyres Scottish Youth Series
25 March 2011
A season long Scottish-based Track, TT and Road series for Youth A, B and C's, girls and boys, begins April 3rd at the Borders Union Showground Kelso. The Series ties together many of the single youth events up and down the length of Scotland, encouraging new and existing racers to enter as many of the events as they can.
Points are awarded for placings. Bonus points can be collected by entering certain events. Double points are available for some track and more remote locations. This means consistency and the organisers hope these events will be well supported this year and in the future.
"Skinny Tyres" is the name of a small bike touring and coaching company, and with owner Scot Tares devoting some of his time to coaching youths, it was an obvious link to make. Scot will be putting his name to the Leaders' Jerseys which will be worn by each age category, boys and girls.
British Cycling's Olympic Talent Coach Mark McKay and Scottish Cycling's Regional Development Officer Mark Young, have collaborated, supporting the series and organisers, and look to encourage more young people into racing.
The Skinny Tyres Race Series also has a website, which will be used for information, news, interviews, profiles, video, results and standings....and all you need to know about this exciting series taking place during the spring summer and autumn in 2011.
