Commonwealth Games cycling tickets up for grabs to members of the Scottish governing body

Today (Thursday 22nd May) Scottish Cycling, the national governing body for cycling in Scotland, is delighted to announce that Scottish members exclusively will be able to purchase Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games tickets for the cycling events through a ballot.

Cycling fans all over Scotland will have the unique opportunity to get their hands on tickets, at face value, to experience the thrill of the action first hand and be part of Scotland’s largest sporting spectacle. The ballot will take place in 2 phases; with the first ballot will be open to current members* and the second ballot open to existing members as well as those new members that join before the close of business on the 30th May. Scottish Cycling have 120 pairs of tickets that will be entered into the ballot with the first 60 pairs tickets drawn on the 26th May and the second 60 pairs drawn on the 2nd  June.

Craig Burn, Chief Executive of Scottish Cycling said: “We are delighted to be able to offer a number of tickets exclusively to our Scottish membership and give cycling fans all over Scotland the chance to watch Scottish riders compete on home soil.

Tickets to the Commonwealth Games cycling events have been extremely popular and have currently sold out to the general public, so this gives our members the chance to purchase something no one else can offer.

I have no doubt that having world class events take place in Scotland it will aid the development of cycling in this country, by providing inspiration to our current riders and encourage spectators all over Scotland to try their hand at this fantastic sport.” 

The 240 tickets on offer will be for a variety of cycling sessions at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome or Cathkin Braes mountain bike venue.  Tickets for both events are currently sold out to the general public. Scottish Cycling would encourage existing members to tell their friends, family and other club members who are not part of the governing body to take out or renew their membership and take advantage of this once in a life time exclusive offer.
