Speciality: Bunch Kicks & being able to read races

Primary Club: Breast Cancer Care Cycling Team

Biography:

I started racing at the young age of 10 on grass track at the Highland Games. I took out my first British racing licence at 13 years of age where I started racing on the velodrome in Edinburgh with Edinburgh Racers up until the age of 18. In my last year of junior I travelled over to Belgium for the first time to race outside of Britain with the Scottish national squad where I won the title “East of Flanders Champ”. Since I was 20 I’ve stayed in Holland with several contacts for the best part of 3-4months every year racing. It wasn't till the last two years where I’ve had the access to more races, better team opportunities & coaching that things have started to click together. 2012 I signed a contract with Ibis Cycles UCI registered with a partnership along side Scottish cycling where I broke my wrist , the first of broken bones for me in early spring. I managed to turn that disappointing start to the season round & it turned out to be the most successful year so far. I’m a Scottish Institute funded athlete alongside a continued Braveheart funded athlete & in the winter I am employed by Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op working 3 days a week with a company who understands my demand for training & racing.

Who Inspires you and why:

Without being soppy here I pick my Dad he is an inspiration. I always look up to him, learn from him, seek his advice which is usually spot on & there's always a competitive edge with us when it comes to bikes....or that could just be me! I have a massive respect for Vos but who doesn’t. She's risen the profile of women cycling & she's bloomen awesome on a bike, is there not a discipline she cant do??!

How do you celebrate/relax after a big event:

This wont sound exciting or like the best meal to celebrate with specially as I'm allergic to gluten but do love to find the closest McDonalds & pig out with a big mac & strawberry milkshake.
