Adding to three closed circuit wins, Jonathan Dexter (We Love Mountains Racing) secured his first road race victory of the season in a bunch sprint finish to Weaver Valley CC’s promotion in Cheshire.

The field was all together after seven laps of the Great Bedworth and Antrobus circuit – made more challenging by some very muddy sections on the back of the course – despite a series of attempts to form a break.

That left 25-year-old Dexter, from Chesterfield, to take the verdict by less than a length ahead of Stockport’s Jonathan Rooke (Wills Wheels CC), moving up from seventh place last year, and Mark Hassall (Dave Hinde RT).

The award for the most aggressive rider went to Joseph Wilkinson (Albarosa CC).

Result:

1 Jonathan Dexter (We Love Mountains Racing)

7 Chris Last (Clay Cross RT)
8 Terry Greenwood (Chapeau! The People’s BC)
9 David Sowerby (Sowerby Brothers CRT)
10 Andrew Hill Warrington RC)
