Hill Climb: Gas Hill Gasp

Venue: Red Lion Pub, 79 Bishopgate, Norwich, NR1 4AA
Event Details

A unique 4-up knockout hill climbing competition will be hitting the 'cols' of Norfolk on Friday 8th July at 7pm, as organiser Ken Jolliffe puts on the Gas Hill Gasp.

Norfolk isn't exactly renowned for its alpine climbs, but organisers have picked out Gas Hill, a 350 long stretch with some punishing 20% grades near the top. The competition isn't a standard hill climb using a TT format. Instead it's four riders going head-to-head up the hill in knockout heats, with the aim of finding the east's finest grimpeur.

Any bike with a freewheel can be used - no fixies are allowed in order to comply with British Cycling regulations and the racing will be on totally closed roads. There are prizes available and large crowds are expected, as the event is part of the Norwich New Lord Mayor celebrations, with the newly appointed Mayor on hand to dish out the prizes.

To find out more and enter go to www.norfolkcycling,co.uk and download an entry form, which must be completed and returned by 17th June. There's no entry on the line, so make sure you get your entry in pronto if you want to be a part of this unusual hill climb event.
