South East Youth Circuit Champs

Event: 22nd May 2011
Promoted by: VC Jubilee
Venue: Eastbourne

Report: Sally Page
Event Details

The South East Youth circuit champs at Eastbourne went very well, despite the really strong winds. The course was a super tough circuit on closed roads of approx 1mile using South Cliff and King Edwards Parade. The riders were treated to a start/finish gantry which made it a very special race. 59 riders in all took part in the u12, u14 and u16 youth races for girls and boys. The events formed the South East Youth champs so any rider from the South East could qualify.

VC Jubilee took over this event at very short notice, an opportunity not to miss, ie riding on closed road circuit, youth riders dont get much opportunity for this, and in conjunction with Preston Park Youth CC and members of Eastbourne Pedal Power Youth Cycling Club, Brighton Excelsior CC, and VC Jubilee members and parents we were able to run the event.

With 59 riders, and a big field of Youth A&B u14-u16 riders it attracted a high standard field. It was also a selection event for the Inter-Regional Road Champs which is coming up in July in Perth, and Youth A riders hoping to feature in this made for great race in the hope to be selected for the South East Youth Team.
