The British Cycling National Masters Road Race Championships make a welcome return to the calendar for 2014 on 7-8 June.

Thr race is open to all categories (E1234) of rider aged 30+, and is based on five-year age groups. Accommodating the full range of age groups there is an intensive two day of racing scheduled.

There are six races with two age groups racing together, but with separate results. Reflecting the increasing levels of interest there will also be a separate women’s masters (all aged 30+) race on Sunday 8 June.

It is anticipated that the total field will be 250-300 riders from all over the UK. Closing date for entry is 11 May at which time, if there are oversubscribed races, the best field will be chosen. All entrants, successful or otherwise, will be notified ASAP after 11 May.

The course

The race is being held on the well known central region course “Cublington” close to Milton Keynes/Dunstable. It is a 20-kilometre course starting just outside Wing, Bucks and will head towards Stewkley (a long drag) turning left as you enter the village towards Dinton via a fast descent.

On to the A413 and left through Whitchurch via a fast descent, then bear left for Cublington. There is a short tough climb in to Cublington, which is also where the finish will be, and then a fast descent back towards Wing to complete the circuit.
