Motorcycle marshal training and joining the National Escort Group.

Anyone interested in the group should contact their regional coordinator for more information on the role. If your region is full, when a place becomes available, people at the top of the list will be contacted to begin their training. In the meantime, opportunities are available in other aspects of competitive cycling including race organising and commissairing.

The process of becoming a National Escort Group (NEG) rider is as follows:

  • Contact your regional coordinator to find out more about the role. If a place is then available in your region you will be sent an application form which you will need to return along with a copy of your IAM, RoSPA or Advanced DSA certificate to neg@britishcycling.org.uk.
  • When a space is available in your region, you will receive an e-mail with your British Cycling membership number to enable you to complete the online module.
  • Undertake the online module (a link will be emailed to you) and pass the exam at the end of the training.
  • Attend a minimum of three events as a trainee, to learn the skills needed to be an NEG rider, and complete the logbook.
  • Pass a practical assessment which encompasses all the skills needed to be an NEG rider.

Once riders have passed all of the above they will be accredited to NEG 3, the diagram below shows the levels of NEG riders.
