Lance Armstrong Pledges His Support To Peter King's Charity Appeal
13 May 2009

Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong has pledged a generous £700 to fellow cancer survivor Peter King's 'End to End for Prostate UK' charity bike ride.
The donation has helped set Peter, British Cycling's Executive Director, on track to raise his target amount of £10,000 when he cycles over 850 miles in just eight days from Land's End to John O'Groats at the end of May.
Peter was diagnosed with aggressive and advanced prostate cancer five years ago and given just one in ten chance that surgery would rid him of the disease.
Five years on from a successful operation and with no sign of the disease returning, Peter is celebrating his new, cancer-free life by taking on a cycling challenge that would test even the fittest rider and raise funds for Prostate UK.
Peter comments: "I'm thrilled to have received such a kind donation from Lance Armstrong. Knowing that I have the support of one of the greatest road racers in history has given me a massive boost of confidence.
"This donation will hopefully inspire others, and not just in the cycling world, to give generously and help us fight a disease which affects so many men in the UK.
"With £9,455 raised already, I am delighted at the prospect of not only meeting but beating my target, which is every fundraiser's dream."
Peter will embark on his epic ride on 22 May. If you would like to show your support and make a donation, please visit www.justgiving.com/peterking2.
