Event Village

The heart of the 2010 UCI Cross Country World Cup site at Dalby Forest will be the event village. The whole site, including the course for the World Cup races has been designed in such a way as to enable spectators to see the racing from all the best vantage points without ever having to stray too far into the wilderness.

At the centre of the site will be the World Cup event village, a place for you to relax, to shop, to mingle and to absorb the atmosphere of this amazing Mountain Bike experience To make it easier for you to know what's out there over the weekend we've divided the village into a number of zones. Read on for more info about all the things you can expect to see in Dalby Forest this April.

Yorkshire Zone
The Yorkshire region has a great tradition for crafts and good wholesome production and this area will give an alternative to bikes, bikes, bikes and maybe entice you to buy some of the regions home grown treats.

Expo and Retail Zone
Fulfilling the thirst for all things mountain bike, the biggest brands in the industry will be displaying and retailing all the latest kit in this zone for you to make the most of your riding experience. A great chance to see the best and most innovative products in mountain biking lifted off the magazine page and brought to life.

Bar and Eating Zone
As Yorkshire is a region famed for good beer we felt we could not let the opportunity slip by to have a quality local producer on site for you. Perched on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, Cropton Brewery has been producing award-winning real ales since 1984 and they will be onsite ensuring that the beer tent is flowing all day. There will of course also be a good range of food to ensure nobody goes hungry over the weekend.

Team Technical Zone
One of the great things about Mountain Biking is the accessibility of the teams. Not hidden away they are on show in the Team Technical Zone for everyone to check out. With mechanics and team staff out working in the open this is the perfect opportunity for those race enthusiasts and bike fettlers looking to try and spot tyre choice and setup or the mega lightweight race machines that could make the difference between winning & losing over the weekend.

Race Zone
The reason everyone is at Dalby Forest. All the UCI races will pass through the Event Village three times on every lap and for those not wishing to venture around the course a big screen and the talents of Dan and Chris our race commentators will keep you informed as to what is happening out on the course including which riders to look out for in the run up to the big podium finish.

Race Feed Zone/Pit Area
Don't get confused; this is not a place to get your fish and chips! As elite racers fly around the course at maximum intensity pushing everything to the limit they need to maintain both liquid and energy levels to race at their maximum, this is where their helpers will pass up food and drink to keep them going. There are two feed zones on the course one in the Event Village and one at Medusas Drop.

However it's not just the bikes that are tested to the max andsometimes the components break under the strain or due to crashes out on the course. The Feed Zone/ Pit Area is the place where riders can stop to make repairs if the worst should happen

Medusa's Drop, Worry Gill and Dixons Hollow
There will be some great action in the Event Village but if you are looking to see the elite racers on top of their Game try heading to one of these key points on the race course. Highly technical the racers will need all their skill and guile to pick up the seconds on these course sections which will test both rider and bike to the limit. Click on the link marked ‘The Course' for a more in depth preview of the race route.
