National MTB Cross Country Championships, 19-20 July 2014, Hopton Woods

Location

Hopton Wood is situated eight miles south-west of Craven Arms, off the B4385 to Clun adjacent to the village of Hopton Castle.

Directions

• From North West: M6 to junction 10A, M54/A5 to Shrewsbury; A49/B4368 to Hopton Castle.
• From Midlands: A456 from M5 junc. 3 via Kidderminster, Tenbury Wells.
• From South West: A449/A40/A49 from M4 junc. 24 via Monmouth, Hereford, Leominster, Ludlow.

From A49 at Craven Arms. Turn onto B4368 signposted Clun. In approx. 2 miles turn left onto B4367 signposted Knighton. Drive through Clungunford to Hopton Heath. Turn right, over railway bridge and then immediately left towards Hopton Castle. Follow narrow road to Hopton Castle. PLEASE DRIVE WITH CAUTION HERE. Turn left by the castle and follow MTB Race signs along Bedstone Lane to parking field on your right side.

The nearest postcode is SY7 0QF but SatNav will take you straight on at Hopton Castle towards the wrong end of the woods. Abandon SatNav when you enter Hopton Castle village and see the left turn to Bedstone.

Please access only via the route above. A one way system will be in operation for exiting the venue.

Please ensure that the first three in each category are available promptly for presentations.

Race entry. No late entries are available for Sunday’s championship races.

Entry on the day is available for Saturday’s Sport, Open and Fun categories.

Please note that unfortunately there will be no under-12 races at this event.

Camping:

There will be no charge for camping. There will be a water bowser for washing water, but please use sensibly and not for multiple refills of RV shower units.

Drinking water:

Each competitor will receive a 1.5ltr bottle of drinking water, kindly donated by Radnor Hills Mineral Water Co. Caterers will also be selling bottles of water.

Specialized demo

Specialized will be showing their 2015 bikes; they will provide mechanical support to competitors.
