For many years, Go-Ride clubs have been welcoming more and more young people into cycling and providing the best possible environment for them to develop their cycling techniques. Thousands of our young Go-Ride club members will be graduating from youth categories within the next Olympic cycle as they become young adults.

The coaching workshop at this year’s Go-Ride Conferences will expand on how some of the coaching principles developed can be developed to encompass the whole club. The workshop will also focus on Rider Development Sessions,  including how they fit into the Go-Ride programme and how clubs can make the most of and utilise the sessions for their young riders.

Ultimately, this Olympic cycle is the first time the focus of the Go-Ride programme has turned to the 16+ age group for both women and men, and these workshops will provide coaches with a fantastic opportunity to share experiences and ideas with both the Go-Ride Coaches and volunteers in clubs around the country. This will allow everyone to continue to improve the opportunity for young riders and strengthen the programme to ensure that Go-Ride clubs continue to be the perfect place for young people to ride and race their bikes.

Quick-fire updates

The timetable for the 2014 Go-Ride Conferences includes several update sessions that will compliment the coaching activities of clubs:

  • Go-Ride Tour – see how the Go-Ride programme will be supporting clubs to maximise the interest and excitement of the Tour de France’s Grand Depart in Yorkshire.
  • Go-Ride Skills Awards – find out the latest news on plans to develop a programme of progressive awards to help guide young people along the rider journey.
  • Disability – find out how your club can provide inclusive opportunities.

Qualification drop-in

Alongside the updates section of the day, we will be running a coaching qualification drop-in session led by our expert coach education staff and supported by your local Go-Ride coaches. If you need help completing your paperwork, planning sessions or just have some burning questions then this session will be invaluable to you.

It's FREE to attend the Go-Ride Conferences, which will be taking place across the country throughout the month of March.

Download the conference invitation here and return the completed form to the Go-Ride team to secure your place. If you have any questions about the conferences, the Go-Ride team is available on 0161 274 2070 or go-ride@britishcycling.org.uk.
