Rider Development Sessions for Women return to the Tameside Racing Circuit in February, for riders who wish to develop their road racing, fitness and group riding skills in preparation for the 2014 season.

Starting on Monday 10 February and running for eight weeks, riders will have the opportunity to develop their group riding skills at the sessions, as well as cornering, starts, sprinting, practising race scenarios and also gain feedback on bike positions.

Organiser of the event, Jenny Gretton, said: “Over the course of the last three years, we have seen riders from a wide range of cycling backgrounds and experience attending these early season sessions. Everyone from sportive riders who are interested in riding circuit races and cyclo cross riders who haven’t raced on the road previously, to club riders looking for a session that would help them progress into racing.

“We have supported riders making a step into racing for the first time and seen them develop from riding local circuit races. Some have also gone on to compete in the Women’s National Road Race Series.”

The training sessions will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at a cost of £5.00 per session. Riders will need a road bike, a helmet, drink and snacks. The sessions are taking place on the following dates:

10 February 2014
17 February 2014
24 February 2014
3 March 2014
10 March 2014
17 March 2014
24 March 2014
31 March 2014

After this block of sessions, riders will have the opportunity to take part in the monthly women’s-only events within the Tameside Cycling Development League and further women’s coaching sessions organised by Go-Ride Coach, Tom Hodgkinson, throughout the season.
