If you are over 16 and would like to be part of an exciting British Cycling programme that will help shape the future of cycling for young people then read on...

The National Youth Forum (NYF) was established by British Cycling to allow young people to develop opportunities for their peers, so that they have the chance to ride, race or volunteer beyond the age of 16. The Forum is made up of 12 proactive young volunteers who represent other young people and ensure their voice is heard.

The group has been up and running for two years and during this time has achieved a number of successes, including the organisation of the first women-only Go-Ride Race and volunteering at large scale events such as the Track World Cup, the School Games and the National Talent Camp.

I want to help develop British Cycling’s young volunteer programme: what do I need to do now?

We are looking for a number of new members this year, so if the Forum's activity has grabbed your attention then we would love to hear from you.

The vacancies are listed on our main Recruitment page where you will find an outline of the role and an application form. Once you have completed the form, please send this to youngvolunteers@britishcycling.org.uk by Friday 1 May.

As a Youth Rep you would be representing the interests of young people within cycling and helping to develop future opportunities. A good knowledge and understanding of the issues that your peers face, along with understanding of current programmes available for young people is therefore essential.

If you are passionate about cycling and committed to ensuring that young people remain involved in its development, then this is a unique opportunity for you to gain an insight into British Cycling and have an influence on the sport’s national governing body.

The Youth Forum meets five times a year, at venues across England including London, Birmingham and Manchester. The final forum will be at your local Go-Ride conference in March 2016. Travel expenses for all meetings will be covered by British Cycling, but you will be responsible for arranging your own travel.
