Dave’s first ever experience of mountain bike racing happened when he was six years old on a family day out in Sherwood Pines – a race happened to be on and he decided to give it a go. Despite coming last, he was hooked and joined the weekly race series which saw his form improve rapidly.
Dave’s ability caught the eye of Olympic MTB Programme Coach Phil Dixon, and Dave has since progressed through British Cycling’s Talent Team, Olympic Development Programme and Olympic Academy Programme, earning his place on the Olympic Podium Programme and winning a Bronze medal in the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike Junior World Championships – only the fourth British person in history to medal at this event.
