Joanna was spotted by a British Cycling Talent Team coach back in 2004 on the school playing field and, inspired by watching the Athens Olympics, Joanna went on to win her first National title in the Junior Individual Pursuit at her first attempt.
Throughout her Junior years, Joanna scooped a number of National titles across both road and track disciplines, but it was in 2008 where Joanna really made a name for herself. Youngster Joanna really stepped up to the mark during the 2008 World Track Championships in Manchester, winning Gold in the Team Pursuit. The 2008/09 World Cup season followed, as did four more Gold medals, before culminating in the successful defence of the Team Pursuit World Champion jersey in March 2009.
Joanna had a successful 2010, winning Silver medal in the Team Pursuit at the World Champs, and winning road races both in the UK and abroad and in 2011 she scooped another two Gold medals in the Team Pursuit – the first at the UCI World Cup in Manchester and the second at the UEC European Championships in Apeldoorn.
Joanna was part of the trio who broke the Team Pursuit world record in both qualifying and again later in the final to become 2012 Team Pursuit World Champions.
