Be Part of the East Midland Regions' 'Champion Team'

Selection criteria for prestigious East Mids regional events
After a successful 2010, the East Midlands region is looking to progress again its youth riders to keep the momentum going - developing talented bike riders to follow in the footsteps of ODP riders Lucy Garner and Sam Lowe.

As a region the East Mids aim is to create an even wider pool of riders capable of achieving their aims to reach the top of their sport by way of coaching and racing opportunities:
- to provide riders with a stronger sense of identity and pride for their region,
- to use the drive of the East Midlands Squad to help spur on greater achievements,
- to help riders take ownership of their goals, support each other and have the opportunity to help their regional team become the best it can be........ a Champion Team.
To do this East Midlands Coaches are joining forces to become the best regionally based Coaching Team using cutting edge appropriate coaching sessions and methods to provide aspiring riders with the coaching and racing opportunities to reach the top.
- to be driven in establishing a great regional team identity whereby the whole region has ownership.
- to share best practice & ideas with no secrets for the benefit of all our regions riders, to encourage, include & inspire riders towards greatness
- to become a Champion Team.
The East Midlands Board is to once again fund regional Youth Teams for the following events for 2011:
Inter Regional Track Champs
3 Day event 22 -25th September , Newport Velodrome.
Events - Match Sprint, Scratch, Points, IP, TP, Madison, Keirin, Team Sprint, 500 TT,
Flying 200.
Riders eligible:
4 Youth A Boys, 3 Youth A Girls.
Opportunities for Youth B if insufficient number of riders to fill all spaces
Qualification Races
6th May Scunthorpe Track League
14th May Scunthorpe Omnium Series (Northern Area)
16th May Forest Town Track League
22nd May Newcastle Omnium Series (Northern Area)
Inter Regional Road Champs
8th 9th July Venue TBC
A fantastic Multi Stage Road event for Youth Riders
Events: TBC
Riders eligible:
4 Youth A Boys, 4 Youth A Girls.
Opportunities for Youth B if insufficient number of riders to fill all spaces
Qualification Races
19th March Darley Moor Ashbourne, Now 26th March
3rd April Retford Wheelers Thoresby Hall Circuit Race Rnd2
16th April Barkston Heath Circuit Series Grantham
17th April Youth Cicle Classic Owston
24th April East Midlands Youth Champs Thoresby
UK School Games
1st - 4th September 2011, Sheffield
Based around MTB a multi-day event - Dirt Crit, Team Relay, Cross County, Downhill TT, Uphill Mass Start.
Riders eligible:
2 Youth A, 1 Youth B, 1 Wildcard, 1 Reserve for Boys and Girls
Qualification Races
20TH March RRP Midlands XC Series Rnd 1 Cannock Chase
26-27th March British XC MTB Series Rnd 1 Sherwood Pines
2 Further races to be added once the events have been confirmed.
For all key events, qualification will be based on the best three events out of the four, for Inter Regional Road Champs four events out of five. Points will be awarded to East Midlands riders: 10points for 1st placed down to 1 point for 10th.
As part of the selection criteria riders will be expected to attend East Midlands Development Squad Coaching sessions and race at "Regional Key Skill Races" as a squad. These will be Team Manager and Coach led.
The East Midlands board are also looking for a Team Manager and Coach for each of the three events. The successful Team Manager must be BC member and CRB certified, for the role of Coach applicants must be at least a BC Level 2 Coach, CRB certificated and First Aid certificated.
