About Stephen:
A tall, powerful rider who is equally at home on the Road or Track, Stephen burst on to the road racing scene back in 1992, when, aged just 17, he won the Eddie Soens Memorial Road Race and remains the only junior to win the race in its history. In the same year, he went on to win the title of Junior British National Road Race Champion and has been a prominent figure on the road ever since.
In 2007 Steve rode for the star-studded Discovery Channel Pro-Cycling Team. He switched to Team Barloworld in 2008 and enjoyed a particularly successful year on the road. Stephen finished second overall in both the Tour of Britain and the Tour of Denmark. The Beijing Olympics saw him finish in 11th place in the Men’s Individual Time Trial in Beijing. He also competed in the Olympic Men’s Road Race.
Steve has also enjoyed a successful career on the Track, being a key part of Great Britain’s Team Pursuit squad for several years and picking up Olympic, World and Commonwealth medals in the discipline.
