About Sharon:
With a background in endurance and multi-day events – either just by bike or with some running, kayaking and swimming thrown in - Sharon committed herself to road racing in 2008. In her first season she represented Great Britain at the Beijing Olympics Women’s Road Race and the World Championships, contributing strongly in both to the winning rides of Nicole Cooke. She was the 2008 National Time Trial Champion and finished 6th in the Tour de l’Aude, recognised as one of the toughest women’s road stage races. In 2009 Sharon swapped tarmac for dirt, competing on a mountain bike. The year started well with Sharon and her racing partner, Hanlie Booyens, winning the female pairs category of the Cape Epic, an 8 day stage mountain bike race in South Africa.
