About Ross:
Ross's formative years were spent at the UCI sprint school in Aigle which he attended with fellow sprint star Victoria Pendleton. In 2002, he won Bronze in the Team Sprint at the Commonwealth Games - his Scottish ancestry meaning he could team up with Chris Hoy and Craig McLean to win the medal.
European Championships successes followed, and three Commonwealth medals in 2006, including gold in the Team Sprint, again with Chris and Craig. Ross's first medals at the World Championships came in the form of a Bronze in the Keirin and a Silver for the Team Sprint back in 2007 - two more team sprint silvers followed in 2008 and 2009.
However, perhaps Ross' greatest moment came when he won Silver in the Keirin at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, behind Chris Hoy. He went from there to attend the prestigious International Keirin School in Japan for some intensive training with the world's best Keirin riders.
