About Rebecca:
An Olympic Silver medallist and World Champion in the sport of rowing, Rebecca took up cycling in 2006 with the aim of achieving the same elite standard in her new sport by Beijing 2008. She rapidly improved in her chosen discipline, the 3000m Individual Pursuit, and at the 2007 World Track Championships she shattered the national record on her way to silver.
Rebecca got her first taste of cycling Gold at the World Track Championships in Manchester in 2008 where she took pole position in both the Individual and Team Pursuit. Her success in the Individual Pursuit carried over into the Olympics where she took the Gold medal for Great Britain. This made her the first British woman to compete in two different sports at the Olympics and only the second woman in history to medal in two different sports.
