About Mark:
Mark first made an impact on the international stage on the track, winning the World Madison Title with Rob Hayles in 2005 and the Commonwealth Scratch Race title thje following year. He has since repeated the Madison success, this time with Bradley Wiggins at the Manchester World Championships in 2008.
However, it’s on the road where Mark is really making a name for himself. Mark’s road cycling career began to take off in 2006, when he picked up a record equalling eleven wins in his first year as a professional. He quickly established himself as a sprinter with few equals.
During the 2008 season – his annus mirabilis - Mark become a true superstar of the sport, winning 2 stages in Giro d’Italia and then going on to eclipse that with an remarkable four stages in that year’s Tour de France. He became recognised as the fastest and most feared finisher in the pro peloton.
The 2009 season had hardly begun before he was enhancing his reputation further with a stunning win in the Milan-San Remo classic, one of the sport’s most prized one-day races.
