About Ed:
Ed Clancy specialises in the Team Pursuit on the track and on the 17th August 2008, he was a member of the Team Pursuit squad who broke the World Record twice on their way to a Gold medal at the Beijing Olympics, seeing off their Danish competitors in the final by 6.7 seconds.
Ed has often acted as ‘Man One’ for the Team Pursuit: his speed off the line making him the ideal early pace setter for the quartet of riders as they build up to race pace over the first one and a half laps. Ed was also part of the team which won the world title in 2008 and he ended the year by collecting an MBE.
Ed is also a talented Road rider and in 2009, in his first domestic race of the season, the Eddie Soens Memorial, he used his considerable sprinting ability to claim an excellent win.
