About Chris:
Chris Newton is one of the most decorated British cyclists on the Olympic Podium Programme having represented Great Britain for over fifteen years. He has won medals in the last three Olympic Games on the track, not to mention the numerous World and Commonwealth Games' medals he has collected throughout his career. In 2002, Chris became the first British rider to become World Champion in the Points Race, which is the event he excels in.
Chris suffered a broken collarbone following an accident on the road in March 2008 which meant he was unable to compete in the 2008 World Track Championships. However, he was able to overcome his injury and took the Bronze medal in the Points Race at the Beijing Olympics. Chris was also an integral part of the GB Team Pursuit squad for several years.
Chris' talent doesn't just lie in the Velodrome and he has enjoyed considerable success on the Road, winning several stage races, including the Irish Milk Ras and the prestigious Circuit des Mines in France. He has also won the Premier Calendar - the leading domestic road competition - twice (1998 and 2007).
