Josh Bryceland wins 2014 British Cycling Ride of the Year award

Josh Bryceland’s courageous run at the UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Championships has been voted the 2014 British Cycling Ride of the Year.

The 24-year-old won silver in Hafjell, Norway, bravely completing his ride after an audacious final jump seconds from the finish saw him break his foot.

Bryceland, who won the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup this year, took 60.06% of the vote.

Manon Carpenter’s superb run to win her first rainbow jersey at a senior world championships made it a 1-2 for downhill with 9.86% of the votes.

The 21-year-old’s victory completed a world cup and world championship double.

Sir Bradley Wiggins’ world time trial triumph in Spain was third with 9.30% of the vote. The 34-year-old powered to Britain’s first win in the elite men's event since Chris Boardman in 1994.
