About the Event

Info for Riders

For four years running, since September 2009 we have organized an event along Hadrian's Cycleway which starts at Maryport and in the main follows the line of Hadrian's Wall, the world heritage site. Riders assemble at the Rye Hill site of Newcastle College, off Scotswood Road, Newcastle-upon-Tyne very early on the Saturday morning. Buses take everyone plus bikes and baggage from Newcastle to Maryport in time for a start about 9 am. The route, almost all on minor roads passes through Silloth, Carlisle, Brampton and Haltwhistle to the first night's stop either at Once Brewed Youth Hostel or a the nearby Winshields campsite with bunkhouse. The second day follows the Tyne valley via Hexham, Corbridge to finish at the dramatic Newcastle Quayside.
