Event Summary

Event Overview

This will be the 4th memorial event we have held in memory of our son Lewis Balyckyi who was killed while out on a training ride in 2011. The event has had wonderful support in the past and will hopefully continue to do so. The funds raised go to The Lewis Balyckyi trust Fund, a registered charity set up in memory of Lewis. The charity's main aim is to help young riders take the big step from youth racing to racing at a higher level and hopefully fulfil thier dream of getting a pro contract with a racing team. We also donate to the North West Air Ambulance, a charity that sadly nearly every cyclist will know of someone who has received help from at some stage. We also work with Lancashire County Council developing road safety teaching packages for schools, showing the benefits of cycling as well as the dangers.

The event is a non competitive day with the emphasis on fun, but at the same time the longer courses will challenge riders of all abilities. These are Lewis' favourite training rides through the Trough of Bowland and have some stunning views. There is a food stop half way round were The Cobbled Corner cafe put on food & drinks for us at a reduced rate, and there will be food put on back at the base after the ride.

We hope this event  will be as sucessfull as previous years so we can continue our work. We look forward to seeing you on the day.
