Woodcote Sportive Offers Chilterns Challenge
Posted: 14th July 2010
The Sunday Sportives return to the Chilterns on August 15th, from Woodcote just north of Reading. Winding from the banks of the Thames up into the Chiltern hills, the Woodcote course is a consistently challenging but beautiful ride through countryside that rarely sits flat. Chiltern courses are notorious for punching above their weight and this is no exception!
The Sunday Sportives are the 'regular' series form Southern Sportive, designed to compliment their premier events, the Great Western Sportive and the Southern Sportive itself. "We first conceived the Sunday Sportives five years ago, as a way to present a full sportive experience, on a regular basis and at great value for money." says Martin Harrison from Southern Sportive. "The idea was to just leave in all the essentials you demand for a proper sportive, create entertaining courses that will challenge you without crippling you and package the whole lot for a price that won't hurt if you want to come back for several rides in the season."
That price promise has held true, with tickets frozen at £14 - £17 by distance for a third year. For that you get full and comprehensive route marking, two support and feed stations, roaming support vehicles on the course, transponder timing with finish line results, GPS course files and even a cuppa at the finish!
Booking is available online or through an entry form download at www.southernsportive.com. Check the website or call 0118 988 6041 for more information
