Cheshire Plains and Peaks Ride
Date: 26th July 2009
New event on the Sportive calendar with a choice of two "sporting" distances, 100km and 160km and an easier 24km route option. All proceeds will go to St Rocco's Hospice. The entry fee includes a set donation but participants are encouraged to raise additional sponsorship.
All routes start from the southern outskirts of Warrington and head straight into the Cheshire countryside.
The Sportive
The initial part of the 100 mile/160 km route follows quiet country roads and takes in a first climb up Alderley Edge before heading into the more challenging Peak District, passing the Cat and Fiddle and through the Goyt Valley before heading back towards Warrington.
The 60 mile/100 km route follows quiet country roads and loops around Alderley Edge and the foothills of the Peak District before heading back to Warrington.
The Sportive will include:
- Changing facilities
- Signed and marshalled route
- Motorcycle support
- Feeding zones
- First aid
- Broom wagon
- Post-event sports therapy and massage (limited availability)
- Gold, Silver and Bronze medal time classifications
- Official photographs
The 24km Charity Ride
The 24km option follows quiet roads on a circular route. Refreshments and support services will also be available.
