Whitehaven Summer Cross 2nd Event in Cumbrian Summer Series 26/5/12
Whitehaven last saw a cyclo-cross many years ago and is now hosting the second event of Cumbria-wide series at the Copeland Sports Academy. The venue has previously been used for the Here and Now 80's pop concert, Nordic walking ,Rugby League representative matches and is due to be the base for one of the teams in next years Rugby League World Cup.
The venue has fantastic facilities and the management of the venue are very excited about having a new type of event at the stadium.
The course is based on the banks surrounding the athletic track and adjacent playing fields, with riders finishing in front of the main stand.
The event is supported by the Copeland Sports Academy, TotalHealthcare Whitehaven who will be on hand to offer body composition tests and Braemar Bikes of Preston Street Whitehaven
Event organisers are hoping to run a seperate event for women at 1pm.
Local Go Ride club Lakeland Sprinters will be supporting the youth races
