Event: December 2 2012
Report: Snowdon Sports

Matt Macdonald (Hargroves Cycles RT) took a hard fought win in a tough race at Chiltern Edge School in round eight of the Central League on Sunday.

Lots of riders suffered from mechanical issues as the moisture began to disappear giving way to some very thick mud on the course.

But Macdonald, along with Matt Webber (Hackney GT), stuck out from the rest of the field early on and were neck and neck for the duration of the contest.

In the last few metres of the race, Macdonald picked up the pace and made a charge for the line and Webber couldn’t react.

Sam Allen (Hennebont Cycling) took third place but was just over a minute of the pace of the leading two.

Sean Williams (Wight Link) was the quickest veteran of the day and Maxine Filby (unattached) was top in the ladies.

Hargroves Cycles’ Matt Wood was first junior and in the youth section, it was Team MK’s Buauna Ball who won the boys and Emma Pitt (Palmer Park Velo) who topped the girls.

It was two more Palmer Park Velo riders, Angus Hawkins and Maddy Wadsworth, who won in the under 12 section.
