About our club

This is no ordinary cycling club, this is the most prestigious of all cycling clubs based in The Regent’s Park, who wear mostly black and meet at 5.45am.

Rouleurs are not born, they are slowly cooked. Training every weekday* at 5.45am in perfectly well-drilled group training rides that make it is a struggle to get through the rest of the day awake.

RPR don’t just ride hard, they ride smooth, with lashings of souplesse.

RPR training sessions are not just your standard training sessions, they demand a very good level of fitness and prior group riding experience to ensure safety over all else. Sessions focus mainly on road riding, but members also race and train on the track and off-road.

RPR are more than just a club, they are a deliberately small and intimate club.

Cyclists do not just join RPR, prospective new members go through a gruelling period of probation to ensure their spirit is right.

Alas, the RPR is currently closed to new members.

WEEKDAYS:
Day in, day out, sessions run in Regent’s Park from 05:45am-07:00am doing a pre-organised session in a series of groups set up according to speed. We warm up from 05.30-05.45am.

WEEKENDS:
Designated weekend rides take the form of RPR Sunday group rides north into Hertfordshire, Essex etc for between 80km-120km, typically run as ‘drop’ rides with multiple groups at different speeds (30-40km/h) sharing the same route.

Saturday rides are common but more ad hoc in distance and route, and typically more relaxed and social. Riders need to make themselves known and be admitted to join weekday sessions before looking to join weekend rides.

*except when it’s a bit nippy out, or damp, or when the alarm does not go off.
