British Cycling has revealed the dates and venues for the 2013 British BMX Series.

2012 was such a massive year for BMX with the British BMX Series indoors in Manchester, a World Championships in Birmingham and the Olympic Games in London. It won’t be topped for a long time, but 2013 still promises to deliver.

As well as the Supercross World Cup coming to Manchester for the first time, we will also have the British Championships at Perry Park in Birmingham. Birmingham BMX Club have a great facility there and British Cycling have no doubt that the venue will do this 1000 rider event justice.

The 2013 British BMX Series brings a mixture of brand new and established venues. Cyclopark in Kent makes it on to the national calendar for the first time. Cyclopark sits on the site of the old A2 in Kent and provides BMX with a fantastic opportunity to showcase the sport in South East England. As well as the BMX track, Cyclopark has a road circuit, a skatepark, an mtb course and an onsite cafe.

The indoor BMX track at Manchester (above) is on the calendar for the second year running and we’ll be kicking off the series right here at BC HQ in March. To add some spice to proceedings, the event will also provide a big prize money open race from the 8m hill, which also carries UCI points. Expect a few big hitters to cross the channel for this one, as it’ll provide a great warm up for the UCI Supercross race 4 weeks later.

After Manchester, it’ll be a double headers all the way starting with Cyclopark. Then, it’s the first of two visits to Birmingham this year. Perry Park Provides a great setting with an outstanding track and the much coveted 5m start hill. We are back in Manchester in June, but we’ll be outdoors this time, with Manchester BMX Club hosting. This event will also incorporate the National Junior and Elite Championships with the all important UCI points on offer. The series will finish off in Gosport on the south coast in August. Gosport provides a much tighter circuit for the fast riders to tackle, so if the title race is tight come round nine, expect a few surprises.
