Twickenham CC/Evans Cycles Ottershaw Series Road Race Sunday, 19th October 2003, 100km, Lyne Circuit & Kitsmead Lane Circuit There were 32 starters for the first round of the three race Ottershaw Series organised by Doug Collins of the Twickenham CC and the Surrey League. In windy and cold conditions to begin with, the race was dominated by an eight man break that formed after five riders, John McMillan, Simon Brooks, Paul Holdsworth, Bill Butterworth, and Chris Parlett got away to be joined later by three more, Rob Enslin, Lee Day and Lewis Atkins. These eight were never seen again and towards the end, the leaders split into two groups of four with Enslin winning the race for the first prize and to take the lead in the series. The series continues next weekend again (Sunday) starting at 11.30am (Brook Hall, Ottershaw) with the final round on the 2nd of November. Riders can enter on the line (£10) and there are prizes for individual races as well as the overall plus British Cycling ranking points down to 15th. After a short break, the racing then moves to the Hillingdon Circuit (London) for the start of the 2003/2004 Winter Series promoted by Twickenham CC and Evans Cycles. The first race is scheduled for the 15th of November starting at 1.30pm.
