Stars turn out for Children In Need Track Cycling Meeting

Thanks to efforts of the organisers Diane Evans and Gordon 'Elvis' Harling, it was a star studded lineup of riders who turned out to raise thousands of pounds for the Children in Need and the Dave Rayner Fund at Manchester on Saturday night. From Olympic Gold medalist Jason Queally to the 'Kids of the Damed', it was a far more colourful than normal 'race' meeting where the riders kept the small but appreciative crowd entertained with their funny antics.

The 'officials' in charge of trying to keep the peace ...

In between races, there was an auction where members of the audience paid hundreds of pounds for items like David Millar's yellow jersey from the Tour of Picardy and Bradley Wiggins skin suit which he wore to victory in the World Pursuit Championship this year. One spectator got a bargain when a Terry Dolan track frame was put up for auction and there were many others like Jason Queally Olympic baseball cap, kit signed by the Olympic Sprint team stars, Commonwealth Games kit signed by Commonwealth Games medalist Tony Gibb and much more.

Mr 118 (alias Chris Hoy) lines up alongside his partner Mr 118 (alias Jason Queally) with the incrediable Hulk (alias Craig Maclean) there to make it sure is a clean (or not so clean) fight. What that woman (alias Jules) with the red oversized ping pong bat is doing is any body's guess. Perhaps she's there to keep Elvis from singing to the crowd...

Peter 'Big Boobs' Jacques isn't afraid of taking on Matt Hannibal' Haynes as they get rather close at high speed...

Where else could you get the Incrediable Hulk and Robin (Batman is out of sight) entertaining you all for a few quid?

As results from such a meeting don't really mean much as it certainly seemed more about having fun than crossing the line first, the most important thing we can do to give you a flavour of the evening is to present you with a gallery of images, so here they are:
