Viking May Challenge
INFO: The British Cycling Results Service .... >>> Details

Monday 26 May 2003; Hillingdon Cycle Circuit

Former Hillingdon specialist and now Team Great Britain regular Tony Gibb (Team Plowman Craven), together with James Taylor (City of Edinburgh) forced a break of nine after just 8 laps of Hillingdon. After a further 3 laps, the group split again with Gibb and Taylor joined by Tom White (VC Londres) making the lead selection of two GB riders and one wannabee.

They gradually built on their lead, working well together until lapping the bunch with 8 laps to go. Paul Crook (Angliasport RT) prised himself away from the chase group with 5 laps to go and was quickly followed by Lee day (Team Sport & Publicity) although he was unable to join Crook, the remaining four were content to wait for the sprint. Gibb and Taylor crossed the line within a tyres width with Gibb getting the advantage.

The support race was well supported with 80 riders taking part and resulted in a bunch sprint after all attempts to split the pack were thwarted with the result going to Richard Cowen (Newbury RC). Note: Further placings will be shown on vikingwheelers.org.
