CWCC 3 Stage Event (YOUTH RIDERS)

The race was held at Cleveland Police HQ south of Middlesbrough. It consisted of 3 stages. Stage 1 for the Under 16 and under 14's was a 19 mile scratch race, Stage 1 for the Under 12,10,8 was a 3.5 mile scratch race, Stage 2 a 0.7 mile Time Trial (1 Lap), Stage 3 a Devil.

Stage 1 saw Adam Blythe (Sheffield Phoenix), Jon Mozley (Cratoni Helmets, Derby) and Richard Lambert (Rossington Whs.) taking control very early on with Matthew Fenton (City RC Hull) a few seconds behind. Matthew managed to claw his way back with about 5 laps remaining but in the final sprint Adam took the honours from Jon and Richard. The Under 12 stage was fought out between Adam Oliver, (Kiveton Park), local favourite Ethan Conlin (Stockton Whs), and Daniel Shaw (Melton Olympic). These three riders pulled away very quickly from the rest.

Stage 2 the 1 lap TT saw Jon and Adam switching positions with Matthew Fenton in 3rd. The same in the Under 12 Ethan switching with Adam and Daniel again 3rd.

Stage 3 the Devil. With Adam and Jon joint overall in the U16/14 and Ethan and Adam joint overall in the U12 going into this stage the overall hinged on it. There were to be two riders pulled out for the first 7 laps then 1 rider per lap down to two left. All the age categories started together. The under 12 saw Ethan eliminated before Adam so Adam Oliver was overall winner. The under 16/14 saw the bunch ride together with Matthew Fenton being eliminated on the bell lap leaving Jon & Adam to fight it out in the final sprint. As everyone waited they came into sight chatting to each other!. They had decided to cross the line hand in hand equal first.
