Nigel Polkinghorne shrugged off tired legs from the previous day's efforts in the second Springtime Pursuit to win the inaugural Exeter Wheelers 15 mile Sporting Time Trial. He led throughout the race, run to the West of Exeter on the old A30 between Pocombe Bridge and Cheriton Bishop. He had a lead of 24 seconds on runner Simon Aske at the turn. Most of the outward jouney was a steady climb that proved testing. He held on to that that advantage on the return to the finish. The team prize went to the Mid-Devon C.C. ahead of the Somerset Road Club and a trio from the promoting club. RESULT 1. Nigel Polkinghorne Team Training FX 38-28 2.
